It’s not like me to go days without posting but the fact is I’ve been doing a whole of nothing. The weird thing though, is that I’m not one bit guilty about something like the laundry piling up. “Oh just wear what you’ve been wearing for the last week,” I tell the kids. The laundry has gotten to such a state this summer that THEY’re doing the laundry now. I can’t tell you how good it feels to see someone else throw their hands up in the air about the laundry monster. Why didn’t I think of this earlier?
The children start school next week and they can’t wait (they’re sick of looking at the laundry too). Even though we have lived in the states ten years (two of them in France), this is the first time our children have gone to school here. I remember being told how our children were missing out on an American experience by us homeschooling them to which I had to reply that we WERE experiencing the American experience. Where in the world can one homeschool like they do in the USA!
So our next adventure is public school. Olivier says “Let’s have a slogan for this year. How about Let’s Be Excellent To Each Other“? (it’s his favourite thing to say—from the movie Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure—don’t laugh). But I’m thinking more along the lines of “Let’s kick butt!” The kids think my slogan sounds good but it’s clear that Olivier is not impressed. Back to the drawing board, I guess.
