jeter—to throw or throw away
The word jetty comes from the French word jetée which means to throw or throw away. I thought this jetty fit the definition well because it looked like a structure built of concrete blocks and rocks thrown away. Here are a couple snaps of the children on the jetty. First Françoise:

down by the jetty—anglet
Someone told me to take the kids to McDonalds in Anglet near Biarritz because it has a view of the ocean. It doesn’t really but I was excited about the jetty. More pics later.

depth of field
Depth of field is a new term that I have learned in photography that refers to the amount of focus there is in an image. In this image I attempted to capture a shallow depth of field. A shallow depth of field is a term that describes an image with its focus on a particular object or subject only, while blurring out the rest. Here is a better example of an image with a shallow depth of field by one of my favourite flickr photographers Carlos Luis. I have attempted to capture a shallow depth of field in the second image of this post and in the image of this post. I really like this capture.
