Our neighbour has an overgrown backyard full of weeds. I swear I use to hate looking at it. Since taking an interest in photography however I have taken a liking to his yard wandering there often because of the wildlife it attracks. If not for his weedy backyard my images would be reduced to taking portraits of my frizzy head of hair (hmpf! thanks to the wonderful Texas humidity). The other day there were three deer grazing and today there was a monstrous dragon fly sunbathing on a dead branch. I didn’t have the right lens on my camera to capture them well but I’m thinking very much of renting a telephoto lens for this purpose. The above shots were captured using my prime lens.

I am running out of adjectives.
Delicate. Almost like you could put out your finger and have the butterfly climb on.

Who knew weeds were good for something?!
Debbie found a dead Monarch butterfly outside a couple of days ago. I had to take a picture of it the colors were so amazing.

should my neighbors ever complain about my weedy year, i’ll be sure to tell them to focus on the beauty instead.
