A view of the Roman Forum from the terrace behind the Campidoglio square at Piazza Venezia. I wanted to rise early to watch the sun rise here but could never get up in time. Lucky I tossed a coin in at the Trevi Fountain to ensure my return. The Arch of Septimus Severus is on the left. Best viewed larger.
The Vittorio Emanuele II monument at Piazza Venezia. Rome’s most controversial landmark. Often referred to as the typewriter or wedding cake. It is made from marble and has gigantic brass sculptures. Best appreciated from the top with its commanding view.

Next time I travel anywhere, can you come and take photos? Your pictures are amazing. One of my favorites is Springtime. Beautiful!

What amazes me is the ruins are in the midst of all the modern day buildings. Did the tree in the springtime photo have a scent? It looks like it smelled heavenly. Thank you so much for sharing these!

now if we could rid the city of all the cars and buses, then they wouldn’t look so anachronistic next to the old buildings. love that wisteria climbing in the one shot.
